The World Quizzing Championship (WQC) is coming to Kottayam, the “Land of Letters.”
Because of its significant contribution to print media and literature, the city is appropriately known as ‘Akshara Nagari,’ which translates as ‘city of letters.’ The name ‘Kottayam’ is a combination of the Malayalam words ‘kott’ meaning ‘fort’ and ‘akam’ meaning ‘inside’; the literal meaning is ‘the interior of a fort.’
The proctor of this event is Miss Jayalakshmi G, who is currently pursuing masters in Economics from Indira Gandhi National Open University. She is a passionate quizzer and quizmaster who has participated in and conducted multiple quizzes. She was a finalist in several state level quizzes, including Deshabhimani Aksharamuttam Quiz , Balabhumi Little Master Contest, and Social Science Fair Quiz.
Her interests outside of quizzing include music, oration, and writing. She won the A Grade for Recitation Malayalam at the Kerala School Youth Festival five times. She finished second in Recitation Malayalam at the Mahatama Gandhi University Youth Festival 2019. She enjoys public speaking as well. She has competed in and won numerous oratory events at the state level.
Her literary works have appeared in a number of Malayalam magazines and books. She is currently the Malayalam content writing head at KITES FOUNDATION. She is also the co-writer of ‘Quiz Zone’ in Mathrubhumi GK and Current Affairs.
