The World Quizzing Championship (WQC) is coming to Idukki, Kerala’s Spice Garden. With the Sahya mountain ranges occupying the majority of the geographical area, Idukki is one of Kerala’s most natural areas. Idukki’s high ranges and wooded valleys offer a variety of attractions such as wildlife sanctuaries, hill stations, spice plantation tours, jungle walks and safaris, mountain treks, elephant rides, and so on. This beautiful district, also known as Kerala’s Power House, is also known for a number of notable tourist hotspots such as Thekkady, Munnar, Maattupetty, and others.
Mr Vishnu Somarajan, an exceptional quizzer, researcher, and brilliant writer, is our Idukki Edition Proctor. He is an Assistant Professor in Public Administrator by qualifying UGC NET Exam with flying colours. He holds a B Com Finance & Taxation degree from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, as well as an MA in Local Development Studies from Thunchanth Ezhuthachan Malayalam University, Tirur. He enjoys quizzing, reading, story writing, and quiz content creation.
At the Mathrubhumi Sahitya Quiz ‘Ka Literature Festival,’ he won first place. He was the Quiz Master of the Kerala Agricultural University Agricultural Fest, Gandhi Quiz Series hosted by the Malayalam University, the State Level Tourism Quiz under the aegis of Henry Baker College, Kottayam, etc. He presented a paper on behalf of Malayalam University at the Kerala History Conference 2018. He was the coordinator of the Theerashree Mentorship Program, a free learning platform for Tirur’s coastal students co-sponsored by the Malappuram District Kudumbasree Mission, Vakkad Panchayat, and MU Students Union. He won the First Prize in the Kerala Sastra Sahithya Parishad’s Story Writing Competition as part of the World Wetlands Day Celebrations. He’s also had stories published in Mathrubhumi Weekly, Bhashaposhini and Manorama Weekly.
